Regions Field – Geotechnical Engineering & CMT – Birmingham, AL
BECC provided the geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing services for the foundations of Regions Field in Birmingham, AL.
Description and Location
The newly constructed AA minor league baseball park is the new home for the Birmingham Barons, an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. The new park covers 4 city blocks. The concourse surrounds all 360° of the field, with suites, event venues, and shopping stores located within the park.
Much of the site subgrade was composed of irregular rock beds and soft soils. At BECC’s recommendation, structural concrete beams were used as the deep foundations.
