We performed special inspections for steel based on International Building Code as well as strength testing for concrete. Much of the Concrete used for this project is high-strength mixtures in excess of 6,000 psi design strength. The expansion building of Children’s Hospital in Birmingham Alabama consisted of 16 floors with an a attached parking garage and underground walk-through tunnel from 5th Avenue to 6th Avenue.
Special inspections were performed for mortar and grout as well as steel members, including puddle welds, pipe welds, decking, and bolt connections. Concrete testing was performed on foundation system members. Concrete specimens were cured on site in a climate controlled curing box. We also performed steel and structural steel inspections to ensure building code and safety.
